Aaron Gregory Rund was born on April 4, 1990, in Marshall, to Gregory and Shannon (Schultz) Rund. In 1993, at just 3 years old the family moved to Southern CA, where Aaron attended elementary, middle and high school, graduating from Hemet High School in 2008. Aaron worked for his Aunt Tammy Rund at their family pool store during high school and for many years after. He worked in both the field and in the store. In October of 2013, the family moved back to MN. In June of 2014, Aaron joined the US Navy. He was stationed in Norfolk, VA on the USS San Jacinto, Cruiser, CG-56. Aaron was deployed to the Mediterranean and Middle East. In April 2019, Aaron was honorably discharged and relocated back to Marshall, MN to be close to family and friends.
Aaron was an avid reader. He enjoyed time outdoors, swimming, exercising, movies, and he loved to cook and bake. He also loved skate boarding, which he did up until the time of his death, even borrowing someoneâs skateboard on the streets of NYC while on leave. Aaron was very friendly and could somehow always easily make new friends wherever he went. His smile would literally light up the room.
Aaron died unexpectedly at his home on March 12, 2021. He is survived by his parents; Greg and Shannon Rund of Marshall. Grandparents Harold Halverson of Marshall and Les and Garnet Peterson of Russell. Godparents Don and Dawn Brown of Gastonia, NC. Many Aunts, Uncles and cousins, all of whom he loved very much.
Aaron was preceded in death by his beloved grandmother, Joan Marie (VanMoer) Halverson with whom he shared a very special bond. His grandfathers Larry Dean Rund and Leonard Leopold Schultz.
In lieu of flowers the family asks donations be made to Project Turnabout, Granite Falls in Aaronâs name.
