Agnes Magdalene (Christopherson) Mercie was born on April 14, 1922, on the farm near Milroy, MN, to Mark and Elizabeth (Langevin) Christopherson. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Michaelâs Catholic Church in Milroy. Agnes attended and graduated from Milroy High School. Agnes met Maurice at a barn dance, that is when the romance started. On September 12, 1944, Agnes and Maurice were united in marriage at St. Michaelâs Catholic Church in Milroy. Agnes and Maurice farmed in the Cottonwood/Green Valley and Marshall area until 1964. While being a farm wife, she also worked at JC Penney Clothing Store for 25 years. Agnes enjoyed going to the casinos, road trip vacations and spending time with her family and playing cards with friends. She also enjoyed watching grandchildren and great-grandchildren participate in high school and college sporting events.
Agnes was a member of Catholic Daughters and the Marshall Area Adult Community Center where she enjoyed playing cards, bingo and various games.
Agnes died on Sunday, September 4, 2016, at the St. Williams Living Center in Parkers Prairie, MN. She is survived by two children Darrell (and Kitty) Mercie of Marshall and Cheryl (and Tom) Brauer of Miltona, MN, granddaughters Terri (and Terry) Halvorson of Madison, MN, Shannon (and Troy) Bouman of Holland, MN, five great-grandchildren: Chelsey (and Travis) Naab of Waconia, MN, Jordan and Wyatt Halvorson of Madison, Bailey and Boyer Bouman of Holland, MN, and great-great grandson Ryder Naab of Waconia, MN. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brother Eugene Christopherson and sister Irene Jones.
