Agnes Erma (Vermeire) Prairie was born on July 5, 1927, in Taunton, MN, to Edmund and Clementine (DeClerk) Vermeire. She grew up and attended country school in Taunton. On April 23, 1946, she was married to Conrad Prairie at St. Edward Catholic Church in Minneota. The couple moved to Marshall where they raised their family. Agnes worked for J.C. Pennyâs for 33 years. She was an active member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church and, for many years, was the coordinator of the funeral lunch committee. Agnes loved traveling, gardening and bird watching. She was an excellent cook and especially enjoyed making apple pie bars and other treats for her grandchildren.
Agnes died on Tuesday, July 18, 2017, at the Avera Morningside Heights Care Center in Marshall. She is survived by her children Gordon (and Judy) Prairie of Jerome, ID, Galen (and Nancy) Prairie of Cottonwood, Kay (and David) Johnson of Twin Falls, ID, Jeannine (and Larry) Anderson of Jacksonville, FL, grandchildren Troy, Tina, Travis, Zebulon, Melia, Jeremy, Joey, Angie, Dawn and Christen, 17 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Conrad and brothers Charles and Frank Vermeire.
