Agnes Krisbjorg (Rafnson) Severson was born on October 13, 1910, in Lyon County, to Olafur and Sigurjona (Snidal) Rafnson. She grew up in the Minneota area and graduated from Minneota High School in 1929. Later that year, she was united in marriage to Selmer (Sam) Severson in Detroit, Michigan. The couple lived and raised their family in the Minneota area. In the 1940s, they began the Severson Trucking Business and were in business for many years. In the 1950s, they acquired the stockyards in Ghent and operated this business for many years as well. After moving to Minneota, Agnes worked for the Dairy Store, the Big Store, Schwartz Drug Store and was a substitute librarian. Agnes also enjoyed sewing. She sewed as a hobby and also as a small business. She was an avid reader, enjoyed bowling and playing cards, especially at the Minneota Senior Center. Agnes died on Friday, December 10, 2010, at the Avera Marshall Regional Medical Center in Marshall after a very brief illness. She is survived by her children Ordell Severson of Minneota, Shirley (and Mervin) Nosbusch of Jackson, Midge (and Ron) Verschelde of Norfolk, VA, Lorna (and John Rezmerski) Rafness of Mankato, 13 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, 17 great-great grandchildren, sisters Joann Karschnik of Trimont, MN, and Clara DeRoode of Marshall, very dear friends Tommy Dero and Keith Kettle, many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Sam, daughter-in-law Gwen, siblings Maria, Cora, Gudrun, Christine (Crete), Byron, Harvey and Alice, grandchildren Gina Johnson and Kimberly Ripley-Adams.
