lbert Fred Genzler was born on August 3, 1928, in Yale, SD to George and Hannah (Strauss) Genzler. He grew up in Lebanon, SD. Al served in the U.S. Navy from July 9, 1948, to February 28, 1950. On October 16, 1949, where he was a cook on a Light Cruiser, he was united in marriage to Inez Bramlet in North Carolina. Al worked as a farmhand for a variety of farmers in South Dakota, Wisconsin and Minnesota. For a time Al and Inez were the caretakers of the Danebod Apartments in Tyler, MN. Al enjoyed fishing, going for walks and spending time outdoors (especially gardening), and loved to tinker on just about anything. He enjoyed animals and over time he raised and trained horses and owned a variety of pets including a fox and raccoons. He enjoyed working with his hands doing various crafts and wood working. In 2004, he moved to the Veteranâs Home in Luverne, MN. Al died at the home on Friday, February 29, 2008.
He is survived by his daughter Marty Genzler of Concord, CA, son Joe (Lanelle) of Garvin, son Dan of Peoria, AZ, Daughter Patti (Glenn) Jeremiason of Taunton, daughter Norma (George) Mercer of Beatrice, NE, son Dave of Wittmann, AZ and daughter in law Barb Genzler of Beaver Falls, PA, 17 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, siblings; Neola Anderson of Gettysburg, SD, Bert Bartels of Fruita, CO, Louie (Sieglinde) Genzler of Gettysburg, SD, twins Helen of Okneeglee, OK and Ellen Genzler of Gettsyburg, SD, Mary Genzler of Highmore, SD, Shirley Genzler of Redfield, SD and Roger âButchâ (Nancy) Genzler of Lebanon, SD, many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, son Robert and brothers; Raymond, LuVern and Alvin.
