Albert DeSmet

Albert Michael DeSmet was born December 27, 1924 in Lyon County to Frank and Christine (Stassen) DeSmet. Albert attended Minneota High School and farmed with his three brothers near Minneota. Albert married Martha DeSmet in 1984 at which time he retired from farming and his honey business. Albert was a member of St. Edward Catholic Church. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and a true baseball fan. He also collected and repaired antique clocks and phonographs. Albert died at the Canby Community Hospital on Monday, March 30. Albert is survived by his stepsons and spouses: Francis (Doris), Peter (Carol), Harold (Pat), John (Marlene), Michael (Carol), David (Monica), and Mark. He is also survived by 29 step grandchildren and 44 step great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Martha, three brothers, one sister, one step grandson and one step great grandson. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials to be given to St. Edward Catholic School.
