Alice was born September 7, 1922, in Marshall to Gust and Mary (Ueland) Johnson. She grew up and graduated from school in Marshall in 1940. She attended Northern State College in Aberdeen, SD, graduating with a teaching degree. Alice then taught school in Luverne, Aberdeen, SD, Watertown, SD and Minneota. In 1946, she met Robert Geiwitz; they were married July 11, 1948, at First English Lutheran in Marshall. Alice and Robert had three children. In 1967, Robert died of cancer. Alice passed away Tuesday, January 15, 2008 at the Minneota Manor Health Care Center in Minneota. Gussie was an active member of Hope Lutheran Church and community projects and organizations in Minneota including the American Legion Auxiliary, Girl Scouts and Get Together Club. She will always be remembered as a wonderful mother and grandmother, for her outgoing, friendly personality, great caramels and love of Minneota. Alice is survived by her children: Alan (and Mary) of Eden Prairie, Wendy of Golden Valley, Paul (and Jean) of Eden Prairie; six grandchildren Patrick, Jane, Rose, Robert, Elizabeth and Olivia; one sister-in-law, Winnie Johnson of Marshall. Alice was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bob; four brothers: Art, Virgil, Mully and Raymond Johnson; and three sisters: Gladys Hasse, Ruth Sear and Mabel Swennes. Memorials are preferred to Hope Lutheran Church in Minneota
