Allison VanDenBroeke

Allison Rose VanDenBroeke was born on July 5, 1992, in Marshall, to Ron and Gloria (Schwing) VanDenBroeke. She grew up in Marshall, attended Holy Redeemer School and graduated from Marshall High School in 2010. Allison was active in BPA, speech, theater and was able to travel to Spain during high school. She was a member of the Marshall Area Stage Community and acted in several productions. Her pursuits of classic English authors lead her to Durham College in England where she studied for a year and a half. Allison’s mental health issues caused her to return to Marshall in November of 2011. She was eventually diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder. After struggling with this disorder, multiple hospitalizations and correlating issues for over two and a half years, she chose to end her life on Saturday, August 16, 2014, in Bloomington. Allison made many friends over the course of her life. She was quick to share what she had, be it school lunch, candy, pop or cigarettes. She was an advocate for the underdog and was always helping people out. She loved playing cards and doing puzzles and was quite vocal about the right way and wrong way to do a puzzle. Allison is survived by her parents Ron and Gloria VanDenBroeke of Minneapolis, sister Andrea VanDenBroeke of Boston, MA, brother Andrew VanDenBroeke of Moorhead MN, grandparents Sebastian and Beverly Schwing of Brookings, SD and Leon and Marian VanDenBroeke of Marshall, and many Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her brother Anthony, Grandmother Ethel Lavone Schwing, Uncles Sebastian Jr. and Gregory Schwing and Cousin Alex Bossert.
