Alvin John Differding was born on May 4, 1930, in Canby, to George and Kathrine (Meyers) Differding. He grew up on the family farm in Burton Township near Taunton and graduated from Canby High School. Alvin enlisted in the U.S. Army and served from 1952 â 1954 during the Korean War. On November 23, 1954, he was united in marriage to Eileen Verschelde at St. Edward Catholic Church in Minneota. The couple farmed and raised their family on Alvinâs home farm in Burton Township. The couple moved to Minneota in 2006. Alvin enjoyed woodworking and was very talented working with his hands. He could build or fix most anything. He also enjoyed bowling, golfing, fishing, playing cards and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Alvin died on Friday, November 26, 2010, at the Minneota Manor in Minneota. He is survived by his wife, Eileen, of Minneota, children Julie (andJohn) Noyes of Porter, Jerry (and Carol) of Taunton, Pam Rolesof Minneota, Greg (and Janet) of Minneota, Kathy (and Doug) Sik of Canby, Karen (and Leo) Antony of Porter, 17 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, sister Alice Machulda of Medina, and brother-in-law Ben Thielges of St. Leo. He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings Mary, John, Ann, Alphonse, Francis, Joe, and his grandson Jeremy Roles.
