Andrew Henry Boerboom was born on October 23, 1919, in Ghent, MN, to Cornelius and Marie (Vanden Berghe) Boerboom. He grew up on the family farm near Ghent. On February 7, 1945, Andrew was united in marriage to Margaret “Peg†Hennen at St. Eloi Catholic Church in Ghent. The couple farmed near Cottonwood for 32 years. Andy was very active at church and in his community. He served on the Cottonwood Co-op Elevator Board for 15 years, 10 years as Chairman; was a 4-H leader; Lion’s Club member and Past-President; Boy Scout Committee Member; Lyon County Planning and Zoning Committee Member; Parish, Regional and Diocesan Councilman; served on the Lyon County Pork Producers Committee for six years, three years as Chairman and State Representative; was a member of the Knights of Columbus and a recipient of the Bishop's Medal for Service. Andy also enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, woodworking, rolle bolle, traveling and most enjoyed spending time with his family.

Andy died on Sunday, January 3, 2010, at the Avera Morningside Heights Care Center in Marshall.

He is survived by his wife Margaret of Cottonwood , children Charlotte (and Juhl) Stavnes of Lamberton, Barbara (and Donald) Flolo of Glenwood, Steven (and Sandy) of Cottonwood, Rebecca (and Terry) Timm of Cottonwood, Marvin of Olivia, Dean (and Jeanette) of Cottonwood, Terrence (and Jane) of Chisago City, 25 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, sister Clarice (and William) Versaevel of Marshall and brother Walter Boerboom of Luverne.

He was preceded in death by his parents, grandson Travis Dean Boerboom, sisters Sophia, Theresa, Evelyn and Mary, brothers Harry, John, Joseph, Knick and Francis.
