Andrew Matthys

Andrew James Matthys was born on July 15, 1926, in Taunton, to Louis and Celina (Lazoen) Matthys. As a child, he moved with his family near Ghent. On June 18, 1956, he was united in marriage to JoAnn Fry. The couple farmed near Minneota and later near Marshall until moving to Marshall in 1969. Andy worked as a route driver for Schwans and later as an assembler for Pittsburg Paint and Glass. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends and doing garden and lawn work. Andy died on Monday, July 30, 2012, under hospice care at his residence in Marshall. He is survived by his wife, JoAnn, of Marshall; son, Ron (Sharla) Matthys of Boone, IA; grandson, Zach; daughter, Mary (Lud) Jones of Centennial, CO; grandsons, L.J. and Trevor; son, Dave Matthys of Marshall; son, Kevin (Jenna) Matthys of Minneapolis; daughter, Kari (Mark) Waletzko of Sartell; grandsons, Noah and Alex and brother, Ray (Ardis) Matthys of Brooklyn Center. He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant son. Memorials preferred to Prairie Home Hospice, the Holy Redeemer Foundation, or the Donor’s Choice. Blessed be his memory.
