Andrew Eloi Timmerman was born on November 30, 1923, in rural Ghent to Gaston and Lena (Dobbelaere) Timmerman. He grew up on the family farm near Ghent. Andrew served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. On September 10, 1946, he was united in marriage to Mary Lootens at St. Edward Catholic Church in Minneota. The couple was married for over 65 years. Andrew and Mary farmed and raised their family in Vallers Township. In later years, the couple wintered in Donna, TX. Andrew enjoyed ballroom dancing, playing cards, checkers, rolle bolle, traveling and camping. He really enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Andrew was passionate about farming and raising cattle. He died on his birthday,Wednesday, November 30, 2011, at the Prairie Home Hospice House in Marshall.
He is survived by his wife, Mary, of Marshall, children Denny (and Shirley) Timmerman of Boyd, Grace (and Dan) Coudron of Milroy, Ron Timmerman, Lois (and Rich) Coudron, Gary (and Pat) Timmerman, all of Marshall, Kathy (and Tim) Ricke of Savage, 30 grandchildren, 47 great-grandchildren, sisters Florence (and Jerry) Soenen and Marie (and Bob) Hamerlinck, all of Emmetsburg, IA, sisters-in-law Madeline Timmerman of Marshall, Irene Verhelst of Canby and Angie Timmerman of Superior, WI, nieces, nephews, relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, three grandsons; Tim Coudron, Jesse Timmerman and Jason Timmerman, brothers Archie and Leo and sisters Bertha DeVlaeminck, Louise (age 8) and Mary (in infancy) Timmerman.
Andrew will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
