Annie Gunnink age 81 of Chandler, MN died Friday, May 6, 2011 at the Good Samaritan Home in Pipestone, MN. Services will be 10:30 AM Friday, May 13, 2011 at the Christian Reformed Church in Chandler. Visitation will be from 5:00 until 7:00 PM Thursday, May 12, 2011 at the Chandler Funeral Chapel. Interment will be in the Candler Memorial Cemetery. The Chandler Funeral Association is handling the arrangements.
Adrianne âAnnieâ Gunnink was born November 14, 1929 to John and Angelina (Sankey) Ver Does on the family farm in Murray County, near Chandler, MN. She was baptized and professed her faith in the Chandler Christian Reformed Church and attended country school. Later, Annie attended Lake Wilson public school, graduating from Lake Wilson High School.
On November 13, 1949 Annie married John Gunnink in the Christian Reformed Church and they made their home on his fatherâs farm. In 1955 they moved to a farm one mile south of Chandler and continued to live there even after their retirement until 2004 when John became a resident of the Mary Jane Brown Nursing Home in Luverne, MN. Annie remained in her own home until December of 2009, when she entered the Good Samaritan Care Center in Pipestone, MN.
Over the years Annie worked along side her husband on the farm and was a housewife and mother. She raised many chickens and sold eggs for many years also. She was a member of the Chandler Christian Reformed Church and was active in the church womenâs groups.
On Friday, May 6, 2011 Annie died at the Good Samaritan Care Center in Pipestone at the age of 81.
Annie is survived by her two daughters, Marlys (Don) Nielsen and Shirley (LeRoy) Reese both of Lake Wilson, MN; five sons, Leon Gunnink of Chandler, MN, Rod (Brenda) Gunnink of Confort, TX, Randy (Lori) Gunnink of Lake Wilson, MN, Les (Sheryl) Gunnink of Rapid City, SD, and Daryl (Pam) Gunnink of Wilmont, MN; eleven grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Doreen Ver Does and Jennie Masselink both of Edgerton, MN; three brothers-in-law, Bert (Etta Mae) Gunnink of Pipestone, MN, Pete (Mary Ann) Gunnink of Lake Wilson, MN and Arnie (Connie) Gunnink of Leota, MN; nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Her husband, John, parents, twin infant grandsons, two brothers, Matthew and John Ver Does, one sister, Angeline (Clarence) Struiksma, three brothers-in-law, Richard (Ruth) Gunnink, Rick Bandstra and Gerald Masselink preceded her in death.
