Angie T. Talsma age 88 of Chandler, MN died Friday, March 25, 2011 at the Edgebrook Care Center in Edgerton, MN. Services will be 11:00 AM Wednesday, March 30, 2011 at the Chandler Christian Reformed Church. Visitation will also be at the church from 5:00 until 8:00 PM Tuesday, March 29, 2011. A private family interment, at the Chandler Memorial Cemetery, will take place prior to the service Wednesday morning. A luncheon will be served immediately following the service at the church.
The Chandler Funeral Association is handling the arrangements.
Angie Teresa Talsma was born September 9, 1922 to Henry and Daisy (Hahn) Masselink in Moulton Township, near Edgerton, MN, Murray County. She was baptized and professed her faith in the Bethel Christian Reformed Church. Angie first attended country school and later Edgerton Public Schools, graduating from Edgerton High School in 1940. She then worked as a clerk in a grocery store in Edgerton for a short time.
On January 29, 1946 Angie married Dick Talsma on her parentâs farm. They made their home on a farm northeast of Chandler, MN for seventeen years, before moving to another farm southwest of Chandler in 1963. They remained on the farm till her husbandâs retirement from farming in 1981 and they moved into Chandler.
Angie was a housewife and mother, but also was active in her church and community. She was a member of the Chandler Christian Reformed Church, where she was in the Ladies Aid, and enjoyed bird watching, flowers, and many years of working with the Chandler Christian School Birthday and Community Calendar. She loved getting together with her friends each Saturday morning for coffee and playing cards. Angie and her husband also loved to travel and over the years made trips to forty nine of the fifty States and most of the Provinces of Canada.
In February of 2010, Angie became a resident of the Edgebrook Care Center in Edgerton, where she died Friday, March 25, 2011 at the age of 88.
Angie is survived by her husband, Dick Talsma of Chandler, MN; three sons, Raymond (Sharon) Talsma of Chandler, MN, Glen (Marcia) Talsma of Lake Wilson, MN, and Roger (Pam) Talsma of Chandler, MN; five daughters, Donna (Marvin) Van Dam of Chandler, MN, Diane (David) Jurgensen of Worthington, MN, Dorothy (Verle) Vanderploeg of Sibley, IA, Darla (Curt) Wieneke of Windom, MN and Denise (Scott) Marquardt of Plymouth, WI; one son-in-law, Pat Doyscher of Round Lake, MN; twenty six grandchildren; twenty one great grandchildren; three sisters-in-law, Rena Masselink of Edgerton, MN, Phyllis Masselink of Jenison, MI and, Elizabeth Fransen of Alamosa, CO; one brother-in-law, John Prins of Sanborn, IA; many nieces, nephews and friends.
Her parents, one daughter, Delores âDeDeâ Doyscher, two grandsons, Paul Van Dam and Kevin Talsma, two brothers and one sister, preceded her in death.
