Anita Anderson

d. July 27, 2007

Anita Marie (Mattson) Anderson was born on April 4, 1949, in Marshall, to Newell and Luella Mattson. She graduated from Minneota High School and the Abbott Northwestern School of Nursing in Minneapolis and became a Registered Nurse. On June 28, 1975, she married Darrel E. Anderson at Hope Lutheran Church. The coupled lived all of their married life on a farm North of Minneota. Anita’s mission was helping people. She was employed at Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar and later the Doctor’s Plaza in Marshall. She dedicated herself to 20 years of service at the Affiliated Community Medical Center in Marshall where she was an allergy nurse and enjoyed helping people through the Drug Assistance Program. Her life focused on her family; she never missed any activities that Laurie and Scott were in. Giving encouragement was always important to Anita. She enjoyed the family vacations and always being together for holidays. These traits made for a very close family. She was so looking forward to being Grandma. Anita was baptized and confirmed at Hope Lutheran Church in Minneota. She taught Sunday School for many years. Later, she became involved in Altar Guild and the monthly Circle meetings. She enjoyed reading and sending cards for all the special occasions for her many friends. The family always kept an eye out for a unique sheep to add to Anita’s sheep collection. Anita died from Pancreatic Cancer on Friday, July 27, 2007, at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD. She is survived by her mother Luella Mattson of Minneota, husband Darrel E. Anderson of Taunton, daughter Laurie (Greg) Castor of New Hope, son Scott (Bree) Anderson of Taunton and grandsons Carter and Logan. She was preceded in death by her father Newell Mattson and brother Glen. Blessed be the memory of Anita M. Anderson.
