Anita Beryl (Polesky) DeSmet was born on February 1, 1923, in Balaton, to William and Beryl (Heron) Polesky. She grew up in Balaton and graduated from Balaton High School. On June 13, 1946, she was united in marriage to Henry âChickâ DeSmet. The couple made their home in Marshall and Anita worked as a cashier at the Super Value Grocery Store. She enjoyed playing cards, gardening, and following the Minnesota Twins and Timberwolves, and following her grandchildrenâs activities. Anita was a member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, the CCW and CDA.
She died on Friday, June 13, 2014, at the Avera Morningside Heights Care Center in Marshall. Survivors include her children Nancy (and Ronald) Versaevel of Sioux Falls, SD, Thomas (and Linda) DeSmet of Lindstrom, MN, Jayne (and Joseph) Tartler of Hichlands Ranch, CO, Julie (and Randy) Bahn of Marshall, 11 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Henry and siblings Howard Polesky and Lenice Clark and one great-grandchild.
In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to Prairie Home Hospice of Marshall.
