Anthony Charles "Corky" Krogman was born on January 28, 1931, in Topeka, KS, to Anthony C. and Helena (Becker) Krogmann. Anthony Sr. passed away on September 6, 1930 and Helena returned to her home area of Dundee, MN, with her six children in early 1931. Corky was baptized in Kansas and confirmed at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Dundee. Corky attended Dundee Grade School and Fulda High School until October 13, 1948, when he enlisted in the U.S. Navy (with three friends) where he completed his education and graduated with the Fulda High School Class of 1950. While in the Navy, he served at San Diego, CA, Whidby Island, WA, Kodiak and Adak Island, Alaska. He was honorably discharged on October 15, 1952, and worked a short time at Morrell’s in Sioux Falls, SD. On December 28, 1953, Corky married Elizabeth (Betty) Freetly at the Basilica of St. Mary's in Minneapolis. To this union, seven children were born. The family moved to Russell in August of 1973. As Corky's health failed, he and Betty moved into Marshall in August of 2006. He was a member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, Communications Workers of America Union, American Legion Post 0460 of Russell, and served on the Coon Creek Township Board for several years. Corky's enjoyments were traveling, hunting, fishing, bowling, playing cards and spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was especially proud of the fact that he had three sons on the 1979 State 9-Man Football Championship team from Russell. Corky died on Tuesday, January 22, 2008, at the Avera Marshall Medical Center in Marshall. He is survived by his wife Betty of Marshall, sons Kevin (and Terry) of Plymouth, Robert (and Tami) of Owatonna, Joseph (and Jan) of Russell, daughters Karen Kaas of Marshall, Diane Marsh of Ramsey, Carol (and Jeff) Chandler of Balaton, daughter-in-law Deborah Krogman of Chaska, 16 grandchildren; Tom, Tara Troy, Anna, Diana, Liz, Kyle, Kayla, Gregory, Christopher, Ashton, Brandon, Alex, Taylor, Jon and Jordan, two step-grandchildren Rick and Adam, five great-grandchildren; Emma, Abbie, Brady, Drew and Owen; sister Maxine (and Robert) Schmitt of Minneapolis, several nieces, nephews and in-laws.
