Ardell (Dell) Johnson

Ardell passed away peacefully at home on January 24, 2014. Public visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 28, from 4-8 P.M. at Rehkamp Horvath Funeral Home (124 E. 1st St., Minneota) with a Prayer Service at 7:00 P.M. Private family funeral services will be held at a later date. Interment at St. Paul's Cemetery in Minneota.

Ardell was born on August 9, 1946 to Alden and Mabel Johnson. He attended the Minneota School District and after high school he attended trade school for welding. On May 22, 1970, Ardell married Jeanne Claeys at St. Edward's Catholic Church in Minneota. Ardell enjoyed spending time with his family, tending to his farm, overseeing the sheep operation, gardening, woodworking, car races, camping and riding his 4-wheelers. In addition to running the sheep operation, Ardell worked as a bank carrier for 19 years. Ardell will always be remembered for his unique, witty, sense of humor and his love and affection shown towards his family.

Ardell is preceded in death by his son, Shane Joel; parents, Alden and Mabel Johnson; and sister, Marlys Oakland. He is survived by his loving wife of almost 45 years, Jeanne; children, Scott (Nicole) of Taunton, Seth (Alyssa) of Porter, Stephanie (Joey) DeVlieger of Duluth, and Sadie (Chad) Stripling of Parker, CO; daughter-in-law, Emily Johnson of Taunton; sister, Bette Johnson of Minneota; 17 grandchildren; and many other friends and family.

A special thanks to the staff of Prairie Home Hospice for all their tender care given to Ardell. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred. Jeanne and the rest of the Johnson family look forward to future visits at the family farm.
