Arie Olivier age 98 of Chandler, MN died Sunday, May 5, 2013 at the Golden Living Center in Slayton, MN. Services will be 2:00 PM Friday, May 10, 2013 at the Chandler Reformed Church. Visitation will be from 4:00 until 7:00 PM Thursday, May 9, 2013 at the Chandler funeral chapel and continuing one hour prior to the service on Friday. Interment will be in the Chandler Memorial Cemetery, with a luncheon served, immediately following the burial, in the church social hall. The Chandler Funeral Association is handling the arrangements.
Arie âIkeâ Harold Olivier was born June 1, 1914 to Aart and Harmpje (Prinsen) Olivier on a farm near Chandler, MN. He was baptized and made profession of faith in the Reformed Church and attended school in Chandler. As a young man he farmed with his family.
In 1940, Arie married Petronella âNellieâ Schuur and they made their home on a farm near Chandler. They moved to California from 1947 until 1949, when they returned to Minnesota and made their home on a farm between Woodstock and Lake Wilson, MN. In October of 1997, they retired and moved into Chandler.
Arie was a past member of the Woodstock Reformed Church, where he had served as a Deacon and currently was a member of the Chandler Reformed Church. He enjoyed fishing, playing cards and was active in the Chandler Senior Citizenâs Center, but what he loved most was spending time with his family, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
In November of 2008 Arie became a resident of the Golden Living Center in Slayton, MN, where he died, surrounded by his loving family, on Sunday, May 5, 2013 at the age of 98.
Arie is survived by his two sons, Gary (Elke) Olivier of Pipestone, MN and Arlen âButchâ Olivier of Backus, MN; three daughters, Brenda (Harvey) Benson of Farmington, MN, Sharon (Doug) Schaap of Hadley, MN and Wanda (Tim) Daniels of Slayton, MN; son-in-law, Roger Carlson of Luverne, MN; eighteen grandchildren; thirty one great grandchildren; one brother, Fred (Charlcie) Olivier of Seal Beach, CA; two sisters-in-law, Abelene Schuur of Chandler, MN and Julia Schuur of Luverne, MN; many nieces, nephews and friends.
His wife, Petronella, daughter, Gloria Carlson, daughter-in-law, Joyce Olivier, sister, Hermina (Melvin) Olson, three brothers, Bill (Martha), John (Jenny) and Herman (Henrietta) Olivier, three brothers-in-law, Henry, John, and Gilbert (Silva) Schuur, and three sisters-in-law, Jenny (Hilco) Grimmius, Alice (Klaas) Groen, and Henrietta (Vic) Kluis preceded him in death.
