Arnold Emil DeVos was born on November 19, 1924, in Burton Township to Philip and Helen (Fier) DeVos. He was baptized and received his Sacraments at St. Edward Catholic Church in Minneota. In 1946, he was inducted in the United States Army and served for two years in Japan. On February 23, 1952, he was united in marriage to Trevis Anderson. Arnold shelled corn with his family and also drove truck with DeVos Trucking. He also farmed into the 1970s. He began Arnold DeVos Trucking in 1970 and continued trucking well into his 70s. In his younger years, Arnold played baseball for the Porter town team. He also enjoyed playing Rolle Bolle. He was a quiet man and enjoyed watching television, especially Westerns or Professional Wrestling with his good friend Gerald Abels. Arnold also enjoyed spending time with his friends at Senior Dining in Porter. He especially enjoyed time spent with his family. He was a member of St. Edward Catholic Church, the Porter Post of the American Legion and the Porter Shipping Association.
Arnold died suddenly on Saturday, October 15, 2016, at his residence in rural Taunton. He is survived by his daughter-in-law Mary DeVos, grandchildren Ryan (and Kerri) DeVos and Crystal (and Brian) McKeen, daughter-in-law Shelly (and David) Schrunk, grandchildren Hope (and Mark) Lund, Kyle DeVos, Kaitlyn DeVos, Nathan DeVos, Lacie DeVos, Carter Schrunk and Grant Schrunk, great-grandchildren Kallie and Tyler DeVos and Alexis McKeen, sisters Ramona (and Vin) Buysse, Velma (and Mervin) Eischens, Lucille Qunell, Phyllis (and Wally) Birk, nieces, nephews, and special family friend Mack Davis. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Trevis, daughter Diane, sons Randy and Roger and brothers Floyd and Richard.
