Arthur Raymond Peppersack was born on September 14, 1922, in Granville, IA,
to John and Josephine (Bueltel) Peppersack. He was united in marriage to
Berniece Lubbers on September 16, 1946. The couple lived and raised their
family in Cottonwood, MN. Before entering the military, he worked for
Smiths Farm Store of Cottonwood. He entered the Army during World War II
and served from November of 1942 to February of 1946 in the Rheinland,
Central Europe Campaign earning the Good Conduct Medal, Meritorious Unit
award, American Theater Service Medal and the European African Middle
Eastern Theatre Service Medal. He had a lifetime membership in the VFW and
the American Legion. Arthur worked for the Lyon County Highway Department
from 1948 until 1986. After retirement, he enjoyed woodworking, especially
making birdhouses. He liked taking his dad fishing when he could and going
on fishing trips with his brother, Leo. He liked to joke with his
children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In July of 2011, he moved
to Broen Nursing Home of Fergus Falls and after nine months, he became a
resident of the MN Veterans Home of Fergus Falls.
Arthur died on Sunday, March 29, 2015, at the Veteranâs Home in Fergus
Falls, MN. He is survived by his son Robert of Minneapolis, grandchildren
Michael and Richard, daughter Georgine (and Donald) Melaas of Fergus Falls,
grandchildren Jennifer, Neal, Ryan and Matthew, son Michael of Cottonwood,
grandchildren Michelle, Mathew, Micah, and Macon, 12 great-grandchildren,
two step great-grandchildren, one sister-in-law Betty and nieces and
nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Berniece, parents John and
Josephine, sisters Bertha, Ellanora, Regina, Martha, Armilda, Rosella and
Leona, brothers Elmer, Otto, Raymond and Leo and daughter-in-law Vonnie.
