Avis Mae Vivian was born on May 15, 1920 in Chippewa County to Julius and Anna (Hanson) Anderson. Avis was the youngest of three children; she had a sister Lillian and a brother James. The family moved to Devils Lake, ND where Julius was a salesman selling Home Comfort Ranges. When Avis was 4 ½ years old, her mother died of complications from a kidney disease. The children moved back to Chippewa County and lived with their grandparents, Carl and Lena Hanson. Avis attended schools in Wegdahl, Granite Falls, Sabon, ND and Marshall where she finished school. In 1939 they moved back to Minnesota and bought a farm south of Taunton. In 1952 they moved to Minneota. Avis was a homemaker and later she worked as a substitute cook at St. Edward’s School and at the Minneota Public School. She was a member and officer of the St. Joan of Arc Society. Avis and Albert went on many trips. In 1995 they moved to Hill Street Place in Marshall. Avis will be remembered as a good wife, loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
