Bernard Joseph Kirsh was born on December 11, 1929, in Delhi, Minnesota to Francis and Anna (Wawra) Kirsh. He grew up and graduated from Milroy High School in 1947. He was a member of the United States Army from October 17, 1951 through July 23, 1953, serving in the Korean Company as an Army Tank Commander ( 3 Battle Stars, Combat Infantry Mans Badge, Tank Co. 23rd Regt., 2nd Infantry Division). On November 23, 1957, Bernard married May Sullivan at St. Albert the Great in Minneapolis, Minnesota. After their marriage, they farmed together near Milroy for many years. Bernard also drove truck for Standard Feeds, Cliff Viessman Trucking and most recently his son, Dave. He enjoyed the outdoors, farming, trucking and spending time with his family and friends. He was a member of the American Legion and St. Michael Catholic Church in Milroy. Bernard died on Friday, October 23, 2009, at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis.
He is survived by his wife, May, of Milroy, three children; Mike Kirsh, Dave Kirsh and his wife Rhonda, Bob Kirsh and his wife Suzanne, all of Milroy; four grandchildren, Bridgit, Bo, Brandon and Kody Kirsh; one brother, Paul Kirsh of Milroy; two sisters, Bernadine Keltgen and husband Cy of Redwood Falls, and Lydia Flett of Minnetonka. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son in infancy, and a brother-in-law, George Flett.
