Bernice Marie (VanDerostyne) Jerzak was born on October 25, 1925, in Rural Minneota to Bernard and Elizabeth (DeCock) VanDerostyne. She grew up on the family farm near Minneota. On November 25, 1947, she was united in marriage to Victor Jerzak at St. Edward Catholic Church in Minneota. The couple farmed and raised their family near Minneota. In 1990, they retired and moved to Minneota. Bernice worked in the laundry department at the Minneota Manor until 2005. In her younger years, she raised chickens and sold eggs. Bernice was a member of St. Cyriel & Methodius Catholic Church and St. Edward Catholic Church. She served on the consul of Catholic Women and was a CCD teacher for 15 years. She enjoyed cooking, baking and vegetable gardening. Bernice also enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren Brad and Heather.
Bernice died on Saturday, June 25, 2011, at the Sylvan Court Nursing Home in Canby, MN. She is survived by her children Doug Jerzak of Roseville, Connie (and Randy) Janiszeski of Porter and grandchildren Brad Janiszeski and Heather Janiszeski (fiancé Richard Bednarek), siblings Ed (and Dolores) VanDerostyne of Canby, Alice (and Laverne) Kack of Canby, sister-in-law Velma VanDerostyne of Milpitas, CA, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Victor and brother Andrew.
