Bertha Marie (Timmerman) DeVlaeminck was born on December 28, 1921, in Ghent to Gaston and Lena (Dobbelaere) Timmerman. As a child, she moved with her family to Duluth for a couple of years before returning to a farm near Ghent. On September 28, 1943, she was united in marriage to George DeVlaeminck. The couple farmed and raised their family in the local area. In 1983, they retired from farming and moved to Taunton. Bartha enjoyed taking care of her farm animals, gardening, crocheting, quilting, playing cards, embroidery and playing the accordion. She also enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Of all her passions, her faith was most important to her. Bertha died on Monday, August 2, 2010, at North Memorial Hospital in Robbinsdale due to complications from a stroke. She is survived by her children Ed (and Sandy) DeVlaeminck of Minneota, Pat (and LeRoy) Hebrank of Minneota, Doreen (and Gene) Jelen of Canby, Marge (and Brian) Obe of Minneota, Barb (and Ken) Wenker of Alexandria, daughter-in-law Hilary DeVlaeminck of Minneota, 20 grandchildren, 46 great-grandchildren, brother Andrew (and Mary) Timmerman of Marshall, sisters Florence (and Jerry) Soenen and Marie (and Bob) Hamerlinck all of Emmetsburg, IA, sisters-in-law Madeline Timmerman of Marshall and Angie Timmerman of Superior, WI, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband George, son David, grandson Terry, sons-in-law Larry Goslar and Brian Gossen, great-granddaughter Paeden Jelen, great-grandson Bruce Laleman Jr., brothers Archie and Leo and sister Louise (age 8) and Mary in infancy.
