Bertha Marie (Meulebroeck) was born on March 28, 1921, in Burton Township, Yellow Medicine County, to Benjamin and Sedonia (Marshcallk) Meulebroeck. She grew up on the family farm in Burton Township. On Noveber 12, 1941, she was united in marriage to Rene Joseph Louwagie. The couple farmed and raised their family in rural Cottonwood. In 1985, they moved to Marshall and in 1998, Bertha moved to Hill Street Place. Most recently, she was a resident of Morningside Heights Care Center in Marshall. Bertha enjoyed playing cards, crocheting, square dancing and ballroom dancing. She was a longtime member of St. Clotilde Catholic Church in Green Valley. Bertha died on Wednesday, October 27, 2010, at Morningside Heights Care Center in Marshall.
She is survived by her children Clarence (and Pat) Louwagie of Cottonwood and Mary (and Dan) Yarusso of Hugo, grandchildren Terry, Karen, Darin, Renae, Amber, Leiah, Danielle, Michael, and David, great-grandchildren Daniel, Joseph, Skylar, Alicia, Elisabeth, Sawyer, Jadyn, Erin, Elijah, Alexa and Soren, sister Marge (and Myron) Thielges, sister-in-law Adeline Meulebroeck, nieces nephews, relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Rene, son Brian, sisters Mary and Elsie and brothers Rene, Marcel, Hank, Omer and Ray.
