Betty Mae (Schafer) Clausen was born on December 25, 1934, in Elkton, SD, to Henry and Leta (Borgwardt) Schafer. She was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Elkton, SD. On May 8, 1954, she was united in marriage to Curtis Clausen. The couple moved to Marshall in 1956. They raised their family here and later in life, Betty adopted the Catholic Faith with Curtis. She worked for B H Electronics in Marshall for 27 years. Betty belonged to the West Side Club and the Catholic Daughters of America. She loved to do cross stitching, baking, and cooking wonderful meals. She and Curt enjoyed traveling and some of Bettyâs fondest memories involved camping at Lake Shetek.
Betty died on Wednesday, April 30, 2014, at the Prairie Home Hospice House in Marshall. She is survived by her husband, Curtis, of Marshall, children Denise (and John) Petersen of Owatonna, grandchildren Brock and Megan, son Tim of Morgantown, KY, grandchildren Desirez (great-granddaughter Kenzi), Dillon, brother Lucky (and Sherry), brother-in-law Ronnie (and Marlys), nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her son Douglas, sister Elaine at birth, parents, brother Robert and sister-in-law Florence.
