Betty Ann Neisius Nelson,OFS

Memorial Mass for Betty A. Nelson, 69, will be held on Saturday, March 14, 2015 at 1PM at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Marshall. Visitation will be held from 4-8PM on Friday, March 13, 2015, at Rehkamp-Horvath Funeral Home in Marshall and one hour prior to Mass at church. A rosary will be held at 4PM and a prayer service at 7PM, both Friday evening at the funeral home. Betty passed away surrounded by family and friends on Tuesday, March 10, 2015 at the Prairie Home Hospice House in Marshall. Betty Ann (Neisius) Nelson was born on July 9, 1945 in Ghent, MN at the family home to Merlin E. Neisius and Stella M. (Lanoye) Neisius. On June 12, 1965 Betty married Val Nelson at St. Eloi Catholic Church in Ghent. From this union, Betty and Val were blessed with their two daughters Dion and Dana. In her free time, Betty enjoyed spending as much time with her grandchildren as she could, quilting, doing word puzzles such as Sudoku, and following Marshall High School activities. Betty was a long time employee of Weiner Memorial Hospital and most recently working for Taher at the Marshall High School. She also spent time working at HSI and Terrace Park Dairy. She was a proud member of the Order of the Franciscan’s Secular. She is survived by her husband Val Nelson of Lynd; daughters, Dion (Scott) Hansen of Avon, and Dana Nelson of Clear Lake, SD; grandchildren, Nicholas, Lainey, and Jayden; siblings Bev (Norb) Blanchettte of Arco, Mike (Carole) Neisius of Eagan, Kathie (Ron) Welvaert of Isle, Tom (Shar) Neisius of Centerville, Karen (Al) Trosen of Verndale, Larry Mike (Cheri) Pelzel of Le Sueur; brother-in-law, Vernon (Julie) Nelson of Russell; sister-in-law, Crystal (Zach) Wood of La Pine, OR; and many other nieces, nephews, family and friends. Betty is preceded in death by her parents, Merlin Neisius and Stella (Neisius) Pelzel; stepfather, Larry Pelzel; and brother, Pat Neisius. A special thanks to the staff of Prairie Home Hospice for all of their wonderful care given to Betty. Blessed be her memory.
