Blanche Mary (Culshaw) Brewers was born on January 9, 1912, in Nordland Township, to William and Karen (Jeremiason) Culshaw. She attended country school through 8th grade and continued her education for two years in Morris. Blanche then worked as a homemaker for local families and helped on her family farm. On February 20, 1939, she was united in marriage to Joseph Brewers at St. Edward Catholic Church in Minneota. To this union were born five children: Mary Ann, Rose, Joe, Helen and Jim. After her sister-in-lawâs death, Blanche and Joe took in two nieces until their father remarried. The family farmed and raised their family in Westerheim Township until 1975 when they retired and moved to a farm site in Grandview Township. They later moved into Ghent. Blanche enjoyed playing cards, going to the casino, and entertaining. She looked forward to hosting many meals and celebrations. She was a bit of a prankster and had an excellent sense of humor.
Blanche died on Sunday, November 22, 2015, at the Minneota Manor in Minneota. She is survived by her children Mary Ann (and) Howard Christensen of Taunton, Rose (and Ed) Van Keulen of Young America, Joe (and Sheila) Brewers of Montgomery, Jim (and Christy) Brewers of Star Prairie, WI, son-in-law Murray Rapoport of Mounds View, 22 grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Joe, three brothers, two sisters, one daughter Helen (last Thursday, November 19,) son-in-law David Longtin, grandson Steven Van Keulen, grandson-in-law Scott Lamberton, great-grandchildren David Longtin, Alison Longtin and Jori Ann Magnuson.
