Bryan Curtis Hillger

Bryan Hillger age 60 of Tracy, MN, died Saturday, December 3, 2011at his home in Tracy. Services will be held 10:00 AM Saturday, December 10, 2011 at Tracy High School Gymnasium. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the school. Military honors will be presented in front of Tracy High School following the service. A private family interment will take place at a later date. The Almlie Funeral Home of Tracy is handling the arrangements. Bryan Curtis Hillger was born October 7, 1951 to Wilbert W. and Winifred G. (Peterson) Hillger in Morgan, MN, along with 2 older and 1 younger brother. He was baptized and raised in the Christian faith. Bryan graduated from Morgan High School in 1969 and shortly thereafter, enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in January of 1970. He served his four years with the Security Police and received his honorable discharge in 1974. Bryan then attended Alexandria Community College in Law Enforcement, graduating, as an honor student, in June of 1986. He worked as a part time patrol officer in Starbuck, MN while attending school and as an officer in Mankato, MN, before accepting a position in Tracy, MN in December 1990. He was appointed Chief in April of 1993 and held this position until September of 2011, when he became unable to continue his duties because of lung cancer. He faithfully loved and served the community of Tracy. He was a member of the Tracy Alliance Church, Tracy American Legion Post #173 and the Tracy V.F.W. Post #871. Bryan married the love of his life, Bonnie Kircher, in October of 2008. They enjoyed motorcycling, traveling, fishing, and each other. Bryan also enjoyed fishing, hunting, his dogs, reading, gospel music, and “touring the town”. He also participated over the years in state wide bicycling marathons. Yearly he met with his brothers at a family cabin on Tulaby Lake, where he spent summers as a child. On Saturday, December 3, 2011 Bryan died, surrounded by his loving family, at his home in Tracy at the age of 60. Bryan is survived by his wife, Bonnie Hillger of Tracy, MN; daughter, Jessica Chapman of San Antonio, TX; granddaughter, Shaun Baune of Canton, SD; three brothers, Fred (Dianne) Hillger of Asheboro, NC, Marlow Hillger of Des Moines, IA, and Doug (Melissa) Hillger of Morgan, MN; three nieces; three nephews; two step-daughters; three step-sons; eight step-grandchildren and many friends. His parents preceded him in death. The family requests that memorials by given to the Tracy Alliance Church, Leukemia/Lymphoma Society or Prairie Home Hospice of Marshall.
