Carol Ann (Menken) Reiss was born on September 10, 1943, in Windom, MN, to Diedrick and Lois (Klinker) Menken. While growing up, she and her family lived in a few communities, and Carol graduated from Balaton High School. She worked as a telephone operator for two years. On April 4, 1964, she was united in marriage to Jim Reiss in Slayton. The couple farmed and raised their family in Taunton. In addition to helping on the farm, after the children were grown Carol worked at the Minneota Manor for 16 years. In 1988, the couple purchased a lake cabin on Stuart Lake where they spent many summers making memories. Carol was very talented with crafts and sewing, and she enjoyed gardening and canning. She was a card shark and also liked to go bowling. Carol enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, and especially attending her grandchildren’s sporting events. Carol died on Wednesday, October 28, 2020, surrounded by family at Heritage Pointe Senior Living Memory Care Center in Marshall, after a lengthy battle with dementia. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Jim, of Taunton; children Carrie (and Tom) Henning of Lismore, Cheryl (and Brian) Renelt of Wilmot, SD, and Chad (and Moriah) Reiss of Taunton; grandchildren Hannah, Ethan, Gabrielle, Reece, Taylor, Brendan, and Blake; siblings Judy (and Les) Hakeneis, Dick (and Dianne) Menken, Becky (and Delbert) Kirlin, and Tom (and Sheila) Menken; and nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
