Carol Mae Zurn

Carol M. Zurn age 69 of Windom, MN died Saturday, October 17, 2009 at the Sogge Good Samaritan Center in Windom. Services will be held 1:30 PM Thursday, October 22, 2009 at the American Lutheran Church in Windom. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday. Following the luncheon at the church, a graveside committal service will take place at Westbrook Cemetery. The Almlie Funeral Home of Westbrook is handling the arrangements. Carol Mae Zurn was born May 8, 1940 to Harold and Evelyn (Olson) Vind in Jackson, MN. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at Trinity Lutheran Church in Westbrook, MN and attended country school before attending Westbrook High School, graduating in 1960. On September 27, 1966 Carol married Roger Schroeder at Trinity Lutheran Church in Westbrook and they made their home near Westbrook. Carol worked as a housekeeper in Heron Lake, MN and also in the Minnesota Café in Marshall. On July 2, 1970 Carol married Leo Zurn in the Masonic Home Chapel in Bloomington, MN. They made their home in Savage, MN and Carol worked at a restruant. After Leo’s death in 1993, Carol remained in the Savage area until 1996, when she moved to Windom, MN to help care for her mother. She was a member of the American Lutheran Church in Windom and served on the Alter Guild. She was also a member of the Windom Friendship Club. She enjoyed watching her favorite television shows, coffee groups at the Windom Happy Chef, was an avid Twins and Vikings fan, and loved cats. In January of 2009 Carol became a resident of the Sogge Good Samaritan Center in Windom, where she died Saturday, October 17, 2009 at the age of 69. Carol is survived by her sister, Grace Jensen of Westbrook, MN; brother-in-law, Richard Saxton of Wabasso, MN; God son, Tory Albrecht of Westbrook, MN; three God daughters, Katherine Deibler of Wabasso, MN, Tammy Vind of Windom, MN and Ashley McDermott of Springfield, MN; very special friends, Doug, Julie, Brett and Adam Anderson, Tom, Trish, Callie, and Bryton Syverson, and Jim, Donna, Ashley, and Ben McDermott; nieces and nephews. Her parents, husband, Leo, one son, Richard Schroeder, brother, Carl Vind, sister, Marian Saxton, and nephew, Carl Vind preceded her in death.
