Mass of Christian Burial for Carolyn Boerboom, 75, of Marshall, will be at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 5, 2022, at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Marshall. A livestream and recording of the service will be available at www.holy-redeemer.com. Visitation will be Wednesday at the Horvath Remembrance Center in Marshall from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m., with a rosary at 4:00 p.m. and a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue Thursday morning from 8:30 until 9:30 a.m. at the remembrance center. Interment will follow at St. Clotilde Catholic Cemetery in Green Valley.
Carolyn Martha (Braun) Boerboom was born on May 28, 1946, in St. Leo, MN, the fifth of seven children to Florence (Eischens) and Henry Braun. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Leo Catholic Church. She attended St. Leo Catholic School through eighth grade and graduated from Canby High School. She worked for the federal government in Minneapolis from October 1964 until November 1967. In December 1967, Carolyn married Gordon Boerboom in a double wedding ceremony at St. Leo Catholic Church. Together they had five children in a marriage that lasted nearly 50 years. Carolyn and Gordy raised their family and farmed in Stanley Township, Lyon County. When her children were involved in 4-H, she served as the leader of the Stanley Busy Beavers for ten years. Carolyn was an active member of St. Clotilde Catholic Church in Green Valley, and later Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Marshall.
Carolyn died on Saturday, April 30, 2022, at the Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD. She is survived by her son Curtis (Coreen), grandchildren Jordan (Caleb), Kelsey, and John; son Todd (Roxanne), grandchildren Ashley and Shanna; son Bradley, grandchildren Jack and KC; daughter Rebecca (Scott) Regnier, grandchildren Brett, Garett, and Sam; daughter Brenda Lehmann; siblings Larry (Estelle) Braun, Jeannette Westerhaus, Evelyn (Dennis) Louwagie, Ruth (Tony) Louwagie, Florence (Larry) Eischens; brothers- and sisters-in-law Blaine Mamer, Angie (Dave) Bratrud, Bonnie Boerboom, Sharon (Jim) Theunick, Shirley (Dennis) Kerkaert, Greg (Paula) Boerboom, JoAnn (Art) Hoffmann; and many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents Florence and Henry, husband Gordon, sister Mary, and brothers-in-law Henry Westerhaus and Gilbert Boerboom.
