Catherine Margaret (Schmoll) Paradis was born on May 19, 1927, in Bird Island, to Carl and Anastasia (Bertamus) Schmoll. She graduated from St. Mary’s Catholic High School in Bird Island. After graduation, she moved to Marshall where she worked for a few local businesses. On September 1, 1951, she was united in marriage to Edward Paradis at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Bird Island. The couple farmed and raised their family on a dairy farm in rural Marshall until 1977 when they moved to town. Catherine enjoyed ballroom dancing, gardening, canning, sewing, cooking, crocheting, playing cards, and crossword puzzles. Her favorite pastime was spending time with her 11 children and their families. Catherine died on Tuesday, January 4, 2011, at the Avera Marshall Medical Center in Marshall. She is survived by her children Rebecca (and David) Gifford of Marshall, Jackie (and Dennis) Dubbeldee of Lake Crystal, Kenny (and Patricia) Paradis of Marshall, Margaret (and James) Novosad of Marshall, Janet (and Jim) Kor of Russell, Alice (and Ronald) Demuth of Russell, Juanita (and Bruce) Bot of Minneota, Larry (and Tami) Paradis of Marshall, Susan (and Mike) Gruhot of Marshall, Charles Paradis (and fiancé Myia) of Cook, MN, Shirley Paradis of Owatonna, 27 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, five step-grandchildren, siblings Rosie Lanoue, Georgianna (and Francis) Mortier, Carlene Maxwell, all of Marshall, Charlotte (and Jack) Fredrichs of St. Peter, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward, an infant daughter, two grandchildren, an infant brother and sisters Viola Ellingson and Marcella Eischens and both parents. Memorials preferred to Prairie Home Hospice of Marshall.
