Charles W. Graffunder was born on May 8, 1925, in Marshall, to Charles and Lola (Aust) Graffunder. He was the oldest of nine living children. Charles served his country and reached the rank of Sergeant in the U.S. Air Force. He was honorably discharged on August 30, 1949. Charles then worked as a trucker most of his life. He drove for Grong Sales, Midwest Coast Trucking and Schwans. He also loved to travel and enjoyed reading and playing cards with his family. Charles died on Thursday, September 17, 2009, at the Divine Providence Nursing Home in Ivanhoe.
He is survived by his sisters; Betty Seiler, of Marshall, Pat Herigon of Glenwood, Charline Roberts of Luverne, Nancy Woods of Saginaw, MI, brothers Myron (and Nita) of Conway, SC, William (and Darlene) of Granite Falls, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Sr. and Lola Graffunder, brother Jim, sister Connie McArdle, infant sisters Delphine and Carolyn and infant brother Randall, sisters-in-law Margie and Joyce Graffunder, brothers-in-law William Roberts, Dalen Herigon and Irvin Seiler.
