Charles D. Pinckney age 95 of Tracy, MN died Tuesday, June 5, 2012 at the Prairie Home Hospice House in Marshall, MN. A memorial service will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday, June 12, 2012 at the Tracy United Methodist Church. A luncheon will be served immediately following the service in the church social hall. Interment will be at a later date in the Tracy City Cemetery. The Almlie Funeral Home of Tracy is handling the arrangements.
Charles Dayton Pinckney was born on October 15, 1916 to Thomas âWattâ Watkin and Neva (Deming) Pinckney in Tracy, MN. He was the second of three children, with older sister Leona, and younger brother Leslie. Chuck attended Tracy Public Schools, graduating from Tracy High School in 1934. He was involved in athletics and band. As a young man during the depression he worked in the Civilian Conservation Corps. and as a clerk at the Tracy Hotel.
On February 4,1939 Chuck married Evelynn Mae Moran, and in 1941 received an appointment with the U.S. Government Printing Office in Washington D.C. There he and Evelynn raised their family of three boys; Gary, Brad, and Keith. In 1971 he retired and they returned to Tracy. He filled his retirement years with driving school bus, golfing, bowling, biking and reestablishing old friendships.
Chuck lost Evelynn after 64 years of marriage and then spent his time frequenting the Red Rooster, the Tracy Bakery, and the Tracy Senior Center for noon dinner and afternoons playing pool. After a short stay in the Tracy and University of Minnesota hospitals, he passed away at Prairie Home Hospice on June 5, 2012, at the age of 95.
Chuck is survived by his three sons, Gary and Carole, of Avenue, MD; Brad and Phyllis of Clements, MD; and Keith and Carmen of Stillwater, MN; six grandchildren, Catherine (Alfred) Morgan of Mechanicsville, MD; Elizabeth Lorah, of Avenue, MD; Cameron (Becca) Pinckney, of California, MD, Hope (Mike) Boundaway of Boston, MA; Laura (Joshua) Goin, of Cottage Grove, MN; Thomas Pinckney, of Stillwater, MN; nine great-grandchildren, MaryBeth, Megan, Gregory, Colin, Olivia, Hanna, Audrey, Abigail, and Elise; and 2 great-great grandchildren, Issac and Mason; and one brother, Leslie, of Des Moines, IA.
His wife, Evelynn, sister Leona (Alan) Antonson, and sister-in-law, Vivian Pinckney preceded him in death.
The family requests that memorials be given to the Prairie Home Hospice in Marshall, MN.
