Clara Helen (Fier) Kopitski was born on May 1, 1918, in Alta Vista Township, to Joseph and Veronica (Blaszak) Fier. She grew up and attended country school in Alta Vista Township. She was united in marriage to Anton Kopitski at Sts. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church in Taunton. The couple farmed for a time, then moved to Taunton. Clara worked for the Kerr Hatchery for a time, then worked for Marshall Produce for 32 years, retiring in 1980. She enjoyed crocheting, playing cards and Bingo, fishing and choke-cherry picking. Clara also enjoyed the occasional trip to the casino (where she usually won.) She was most fond of spending time with her family and friends.
Clara died on Friday, June 24, 2016, at the Prairie Home Hospice House in Marshall after a brief illness. She is survived by her children Rose Ann Varpness of Marshall, Irene Polman of Hutchinson, Pat Dwire of Marshall, 22 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, 22 great-great-grandchildren, daughter-in-law Rosie Kopitski and son-in-law Jake DeVos. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Anton, infant son Lawrence, daughter Fran DeVos, daughter Jo-Ann Kremin, son Anton Jr. âSonnyâ, daughter Laurie Bach, son Frankie Kopitski, great-grandchild Starlean, sons in law Larry Dwire, Al Polman, Jim Varpness, Ed Bach, Harlan Kremin, brother Leo Fier, brother and sister-in-law Walter and Josephine Fier, sister and brother-in-law Marie and John Lutzwick.
