Clara Elsie Traen was born on October 13, 1916, in Taunton, to Adolph and Valentine (Vandenbroucke) Bossuyt. She grew up and attended country school in rural Taunton. On November 16, 1937, she was united in marriage to Edward Traen in Ivanhoe. They lived near Taunton for four years, then near Ghent for three years. In 1945, they bought a farm in Swede Prairie Township, Yellow Medicine County. After retirement in 1979, they moved to Marshall. Clara enjoyed baking, canning, crocheting and knitting, flowers and gardening. She was very devoted to her family and grandchildren. Clara died on Thursday, October 22, 2009, at her residence in Marshall.
Clara is survived by her children Robert (and Jill) Traen of Cottonwood and Barb (and David) Myhre of Marshall, grandchildren Brent Traen of Marshall, Holly Traen of Huron, SD, Missy Burner of Marshall, Sarah Myhre of Willmar, Kristi (and John) Kienholz of Waconia, Dude Myhre, currently serving in Iraq, Michael Myhre of Coeur dâAlene, ID, great-grandchildren Kaitlyn and Joey Burner, Chloe and Evan Kienholz, Ali Myhre, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Edward, one grandson, her parents, one sister and three brothers.
