Clarence Cyriel Hamerlinck was born on June 5, 1932, at home in Yellow Medicine County to Albrick and Bertha (Mortier) Hamerlinck. He attended country school. Clarence farmed with his father until he entered the Army in 1953. He received his basic training at Camp Chaffee, Arkansas, then was stationed in Germany. He was honorably discharged in 1955. He was married to Clara Thanghe in 1957. The couple farmed until retiring in 1982 due to health reasons. They moved to town in 1997. Clarence enjoyed going to auctions and playing cards. Clarence died unexpectedly on Thursday, May 25, 2017, at his residence in Minneota. He is survived by his son Jim Hamerlinck of Minneota, daughter Cindy (and Jay) Jeremiason of Minneota, grandchildren Shawn (fiancé Jackie) and Casey (fiancé Casey), daughter Shirley Gladis of Ghent, grandchildren Michael and Samantha, great-grandchildren Jackson and Sawyer, sister-in-law Jeanette Thanghe, other extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Clara, son-in-law Lee, sister Annie (and Herman) Bottelberghe.
