Clarice Viola Barrett was born March 14, 1914 in Marble Township, Lincoln County, MN to Albert and Thea (Olson) Anderson. She passed away at the Minneota Manor in Minneota, MN December 22, 2012 at the age of 98.
Clarice was baptized and confirmed in the Christian faith by Rev. C. Haugen at the Marble Lutheran Church. While living on the family farm in Marble Township, she attended rural public school and was a graduate of Canby High School. In 1935, she moved to Sioux Falls, S.D. where she worked in the office at John Morrell Company for 35 years. She also worked as a clerk in the Younkers Department store until her retirement.
On January 28, 1969 she married Leonard E. Barrett in Las Vegas, NV, making their home in Sioux Falls S.D. Leonard died on December 14, 1974. Clarice continued to live in Sioux Falls while spending winters in Bradenton, FL with her brother, A. Marvin and in 1992 she moved to Bradenton to live full time, returning only to Minnesota in 2001 to live in Minneota near her family until her death.
Clarice travelled extensively and visited many countries around the world. More than anything else she loved to dance. For many years, she competed in ballroom dancing and earned many awards doing what she enjoyed the most.
She is survived by her nieces, Gloria Teigland of Marshall, Marvel Coil of Montevideo; niece-in-law, Marianne Drengson of Hillman; many other great, great-great, and great-great-great nieces and nephews.
Clarice was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard; her parents, Albert and Thea; sister, Florence (Andrew) Drengson; brother, A. Marvin (1st wife, Dode and 2nd wife, Virginia) Anderson; brother, Arnold T. (Marjorie) Anderson; niece, Delores (Bud) Peterson; nephew, Dorance Drengson; nephew-in-laws, Henry Teigland and John Coil, great nephew-in-law, William McLain and his son Stephen.
