Colleen Mae (Van Watermeulen) Gillund was born on February 25, 1957, in Marshall to Ronald and Phyllis (Pohlen) Van Watermeulen. As a child, Colleen moved with her family to East Moline, IL, where she graduated from United Township High School. On September 3, 1977, she was united in marriage to Tom Gillund at St. Edward Catholic Church. The couple lived in Tyler, Texas, for a short time before returning to Minneota where they raised their family. Colleen worked for the Marshall Independent, Schotts and most recently the Minneota Manor. Colleen was very proud of her red Monte Carlo and kept it in pristine condition. She also liked watching birds on the feeders when she enjoyed her morning coffee. She enjoyed picnics in the T & C Park following ATV trail rides with her husband and friends. Colleen followed her sons in all of their sports and activities with much pride in her heart. She was a loyal, true friend to all that were lucky enough to have shared her life.
Colleen died unexpectedly at home on Saturday, August 11, 2007. She is survived by her husband, Tom, of Minneota, children Travis of Burnsville, Cody (Vicki) of Minneota and Wade of Minneota, grandchildren Hunter, Reese and Peyton, father Ron Van Watermeulen of Canby, siblings:Gary (Sue) Van Watermeulen of Taunton, Ron (Sue) Van Watermeulen of Silvis, IL, Collette (Kenny) Dywer of Colona, IL, Karen (Wesley) Brand of Jacksonville, NC, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her mother and grandparents.
