Mass of Christian Burial for Curtis “Curt” Eischens, 70, of Minneota, will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 16, 2022, at St. Leo Catholic Church in St. Leo, MN.  Visitation will be Friday, July 15, 2022, from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. with a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. at the Horvath Remembrance Center in Minneota.  Visitation will continue on Saturday, July 16, from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. at St. Leo Catholic Church in St. Leo.  Interment will follow the service at the St. Leo Catholic Cemetery in St. Leo.  A recording of the service will be available at www.horvathfuneralservice.com.

Curtis Clarence Eischens was born on July 3, 1952, in Clarkfield to Clarence and Leona (Roles) Eischens.  He grew up in St. Leo and attended St. Leo Catholic School.  He graduated from Minneota High School in 1970 where he competed in wrestling, baseball and track and participated in FFA.  He later attended the Canby Vocational Technical School for Ag Business.  On December 2, 1972, he was united in marriage to Wendy Merritt at St. Leo.  The couple farmed and raised their family north of Minneota.  Curt had a passion and love for agriculture and farming.  He was always forward thinking and adapted to new technologies and practices.  He was very active in his community as well.  He began serving on the Farmers Co-op Assocition Board of Directors in Canby.  Later, he was elected to serve on the Cenex Board where he served for 27 years.  He was part of the organization when Cenex merged with Harvest States to form CHS which is the largest Farmer’s Cooperative in the US.  He was also heavily involved with the MN DFL, Farmer’s Union, Ralph Morris Foundation and the Cooperative Network.  Curt was also active with FFA, the St. Leo Lions Club, the St. Leo Men’s Club and numerous local boards.  He also enjoyed antique tractors and baseball, especially the Minnesota Twins.

Curt courageously battled cancer for many years and was an inspiration to others.  Despite his long illness, Curt died unexpectedly on Sunday, July 3, 2022, at his residence in Minneota.  He is survived by his daughters Stefanie Eischens (Jared) of Le Sueur, Laura Bjorgo (Todd) of Woodbury, and two sons Ross Eischens (Amanda) of Minneota and Wade Eischens (Chelcie) of Hendricks; grandchildren Devon Beimert, Parker Eischens, Benjamin and Rebecca Bjorgo, Braelynn, Rhett and Hadley Eischens; siblings Karen (Roger) Boerboom of Olivia, Sue (Dean) Gorecki of Minneota, Luella Eischens of Marshall, Edna (Bruce) Gossen of Sioux Falls, Faye (Larry) Haugen of Glenwood, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Wendy, granddaughter Jenna Lee Bjorgo and brother Francis.

In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to the Curt Eischens Memorial Fund at First Security Bank in Hendricks, MN, where funds will be directed towards agriculture education programs in the area.
