Cyril Joseph Vanden Broecke was born on June 27, 1919, in Canby, the only child of Otto and Madeline (Sabbe) Vanden Broecke. He grew up on the family farm and continued farming until 1974. He later worked for the UBC Lumberyard until 1990. On February 12, 1942, he was united in marriage to Frances Stoks at Sts Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church in Taunton. Cyril loved carpentry and did a lot of wood working. The Minneota Manor displays his handmade replica of Minneota. He was a member of St. Edward Catholic Church.
Cyril died on Saturday, April 17, 2010, at the Sanford Canby Healthcare Center in Canby. He is survived by his wife, Frances, of Minneota, children Beverly (and Dick) Culshaw of Little Falls, MN, Robert (and Kathleen) Vanden Broecke of Colorado Springs, CO, Debra (and Wes) Thompson of Alexandria, and Cindy (and Ken) Wambeke of Ruthton, 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.
