Cy quit school after eighth grade to help support his family as times were tough. He sold newspapers as a kid and later worked for the Mink Farm. He served in the U.S. Army National Guard in the late 1950s, early 1960s. On April 27, 1957, he was united in marriage to Donna Mae Mork at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church. During the late 1950s and early 1960s, Cy enjoyed racing stock cars. His favorite stock car was called the “Jolly Joker.” He maintained his love of automobiles his entire life. He also enjoyed watching sports, especially hockey, the Minnesota Vikings or the Minnesota Twins. Cy will be remembered for his kindness and gentle demeanor. Cy would typically end conversations with family with “Love Ya.”

He and Donna Mae volunteered for many years at the local nursing home including driving residents in the Hal’s Pals wagon to places like band concerts, the Dairy Queen, the Lyon County Fair and others. He also spent time building the planters by the main entry and designing and building the chapel entrance and altar. Cy was most passionate about following his grandchildren’s various sporting, band or other activities. Cy was a member of the Marshall Eagles Club for more than 40 years.
