Dallas Martin Petit was born on September 2, 1939, the son of Lambert and Lily (Whitman) Petit of Currie, Minnesota. He graduated from Tracy High School in 1957, then joined the United States Air Force, later to be medically discharged. After returning home from the military, Dallas attended Hanson Mechanical Trade School in Fargo, North Dakota. He worked for several companies over the years maintaining vehicles. On September 1, 1961, Dallas married the love of his life, Linda, their union was blessed with three sons, John, Wayne and Jerry. Dallas was a jack of all trade, he drove milk truck, delivered parts and learned how to do plumbing. In his leisure time he could be found in the garage puttering on wood working projects. He also enjoying getting on the lakes during the summer to go fishing, watching birds, was involved in the local lions club, scout master for the local boy scouts and served one term on the police commission. He was a feisty, strong willed husband, dad and grandpa that had a great sense of humor. He cherished his time with his family, he loved the little kids. He will be dearly missed.
On Saturday, February 3, 2018 Dallas passed away at the Sanford Hospital in Tracy, Minnesota, with his family by his side. Dallas is survived by his wife of fifty-six years, Linda; children, John (Joy) Petit, Wayne (Nancy Thedans) Petit and Jerry Petit; grandchildren, John Petit Jr., Michelle (David) Vang, Daryl Petit and Aaron Petit; great grandchildren, Aydea, Jake, Christian, Auron and Hailey; sister-in-law, Hazel Petit; and many nieces, nephews and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Lambert and lily Petit; siblings, Avis (Ambrose) Pikula, Douglas Petit; nephew, Chris Pikula.
