Daniel Omer Laleman was born on January 18, 1926, in Marshall, to Maurice and Helene (Slembroeck) Laleman. He grew up on the family farm south of Minneota. On January 18, 1949, he was united in marriage to Agnes Goossens. The couple farmed and raised their family near Minneota until moving into town in 1989. Daniel worked for Heartland Foods and Wal-Mart where he enjoyed tending to the pet fish. He also enjoyed woodcarving, especially birds, and vegetable gardening.
Daniel died on Monday, April 22, 2013, at his residence in Minneota. He is survived by his children; Pat (Clarence) Louwagie of Cottonwood, Dave (Janell) Laleman of Minneota, Fran (Joyce) Laleman of Minneota, Ed (Bonnie) Laleman of Minneota, Rosemary (Robert) Novotny of Westminster, CO, Gary (Bonnie) Laleman of Ghent, grandchildren; Terry (Jackie) Louwagie, Karen (Travis) Jackson, Darin (Heidi) Louwagie, Renae (John) Robbins, Amber (Brad) DeBriyn, Leiah Louwagie, Angela (Jim) Loftus, Tony (Josie) Laleman, Jeff (Jessica) Laleman, Lori Wersal, Chad (Jenny) Laleman, Ryan (Julie) Laleman, Brad (Becky) Laleman, Bruce (Laurie) Laleman, Tim (Alyssa) Laleman, Rick (Carol) Laleman, Danelle (Rob) Wardlaw, Karla Novotny, Lauren Novotny, Drew Laleman and Spencer Laleman; 35 great-grandchildren, siblings; Omer Laleman, Etien (Marian) Laleman of Minneota, Leona Thooft of Tyler, Mary Ann Buysse of Minneota and Bernice Wyffels of Donna, TX; sister-in-law, Bertha Laleman; many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Agnes; grandchildren, Mike and Ken; great-grandson, Bruce John; brother, Joe Laleman; brothers-in-law, Harold Buysse, Elmo Wyffels, Amandus Thooft and sister-in-law, Zona Laleman.
