Darlene Joyce Muhl was born on August 28, 1940 in Canby, MN to Charles and Norma (Ouverson) Ewing. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. Darlene graduated from the Marshall High School in 1958.
After graduation she worked with her Mother and Father at Mikes Café in Marshall MN where she meet her future husband, Carroll Muhl. Darlene and Carroll were united in marriage on May 21 1960 at First English Lutheran Church in Marshall. They made their home on a farm in rural Taunton. From this union, they had three children, Keith (Susan), Cynthia (Peter), and Kenneth (Melissa).
She worked at the Minneota Elementary School in the 70s and 80s working in the Elementary Library. In the late 80s she purchased Darleneâs Café, which she operated throughout the 90s. The past few years she returned to work helping with the young children of the community in the Minneota Elementary School, which she loved.
Darlene enjoyed many years of bowling and crafts. She was an active member in various Hope Lutheran church activities. She supported many community activities include Box Elder Bug days. She was active sponsor of Minneota High School and helped with many of the Viking activities.
Her greatest joy in life was her grandchildren. She attended as many of her grandchildren's various activities as she could which she thoroughly enjoyed.
Darlene died on Sunday, September 7, 2008, at Avera Marshall Regional Medical Center.
She is survived by her children, and grandchildren, Kelsey, Keenan, Kaitlyn, and Kowynn Muhl of Watertown SD, Shelby and Haley Boyd of Spring, TX, Austin, Shayna, Ashlynn, Danica, and Mariah Muhl of Taunton MN. Two sisters Lucy Moren of Little Falls and Ruth Ludwig of Cornville, AZ and one brother, Donald Ewing of Balaton MN, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charley and norma Ewing, her husband Carroll Muhl, and one sister Karen Evans.
