Darlow R. Foster, 90, of Walnut Grove passed away on Monday, July 13, 2015 at the St. Johnâs Lutheran Home in Springfield. Services will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, July 19, 2015 at the Almlie-Horvath Funeral Home in Tracy. Visitation will be held from 4 â 8 pm on Saturday at the funeral home and will continue one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Sunday. Darlow Richard Foster was born on March 9, 1925 to Valley and Jesse (Johnson) Foster on the farm near Revere, Minnesota. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and attended Revere Country School.
On March 4, 1947, Darlow was united in marriage to Amelia Williams at a parsonage in Walnut Grove. They made their home on a farm near Walnut Grove where Darlow worked as a farmer and road maintenance worker for 33 years. In 1976, Darlow and Amelia moved to a home in Walnut Grove.
Darlow loved music, playing many different instruments was a passion of his. What made Darlowâs day was being able to spend time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Darlow also enjoyed fixing things; his grandchildren would have a box with broken things that they would bring to grandpa to fix. He also had a taste for Mc Donaldâs Big Macs and potato chips.
Darlow passed away on Monday, July 13, 2015 at the St. Johnâs Lutheran Home in Springfield with his daughters by his side at the age of 90.
Darlow is survived by his two daughters Shirley Sliker of Walnut Grove and Beverly (Duane) Weedman of Tracy; six grandchildren Dan Peterson, Rob (Kim) Peterson, Amber (Jason) Greeley, Heidi (Nick) Bitker, Dustin (fiancé Amanda) Weedman, Amanda Weedman, Shawn Lenberg, and Samantha Lenberg; 9 great grandchildren Holden Greeley, Chase Greeley, Hank Peterson, Meghan Bitker, Michael Peterson, Kinsley Bitker, Emersyn Bitker, Lydia Weedman, and Sage Greeley; extended family and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife Amelia, his parents, two brothers Vernon and Cecil Foster, and two sisters Geneva Benedict and Lorraine Giersdorf.
