David Leroy Halfmann

November 22, 1939 — January 14, 2025

Marshall, MN

David Leroy Halfmann, 85, resident of Marshall, MN, left us peacefully on January 14, 2025, surrounded by family. A beloved husband, father, and grandfather, David will always be remembered for his devotion to his family and love of the outdoors.

Born November 22, 1939, in Jackson, MN, to George and Grace Halfmann. David grew up in Tracy, MN, the youngest of five children. In 1957, he joined the National Guard from which he retired with the rank of Captain in 1979. A lifelong member of the Saratoga Archery club, David would meet the love of his life Roseann Gladis there.

David helped run the family farm until the age of 28, when he married Roseann on August 24, 1968. Together they moved to Marshall, MN, and built a home just outside the city. David and Roseann would have two children Mark and Sara. In Marshall, David began a new career, eventually becoming a Master Electrician. He retired from the Marshall School district in 2005.

As an avid archer and muzzleloader, David taught both his children to hunt. He enjoyed decades of hunting with his family. David also kept a large garden with Roseann, and always meticulously maintained their home property, finding joy in keeping busy.

David is survived by his beloved wife Roseann Halfmann, children Mark and Sara Halfmann, daughter in law Cheryl Miller, son in law Wayne Berfiend, and grandchildren Willam and Eve Halfmann. Later this summer a private family gathering will be held followed by interment at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
