David Lawrence Seivert

David L. Seivert age 42 of Tracy, MN, formerly of Brewster, MN died Saturday, November 5, 2011 at his home in Tracy. Services will be 11:00 AM Thursday, November 10, 2011 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Marshall, MN. Visitation will be from 5:00 until 7:00 PM Wednesday, November 9, 2011 at the Almlie Funeral Home in Tracy, with a prayer service at 5:00 PM and a rosary at 5:30 PM. The visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday. Interment will be in the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Elkton, SD following a luncheon served in the church social hall immediately following the service. The Almlie Funeral Home of Tracy is handling the arrangements. David Lawrence Seivert was born March 15, 1969, to William J. and Evonne (Ekberg) Seivert in Worthington, MN. He was baptized and confirmed in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Brewster, MN. David attended elementary and secondary schools in Brewster and completed his high school in the Sioux Valley-Round Lake-Brewster High School, graduating in 1987. After high school, David attended South Dakota State University in Brookings, SD, Iowa Lakes Community College in Estherville, IA, and Ridge Water College in Willmar, MN, where he received his Associates Degree in Law Enforcement in 1999. He took additional law enforcement classes at Mankato State in Mankato. He was a police officer for four years and then Chief of Police for four years in Sleepy Eye, MN. In addition he took some classes at Canby Vocational-Technical College in Canby. During his years of employment he also worked for several different companies, including Norcraft/Mid Continent Cabinetry in Cottonwood, MN; Schwan’s in Marshall, MN; and Cash Wise in Willmar, MN. On October 13, 1992, David married Peggy S. Schewe in Sioux Falls, SD. They made their home in several southwest Minnesota communities before settling in Marshall in 2009 and then moved to Tracy, MN in August of 2011. He was a former member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Marshall and a member of the Knights of Columbus in Sleepy Eye. He enjoyed woodworking, camping, playing cards, building large campfires, and loved to cook. David will be remembered for his great sense of humor and his enjoyment of spending time with family. On Saturday, November 5, 2011, David died at his home in Tracy at the age of 42. David is survived by his wife, Peggy Seivert of Tracy, MN; one son, Justin D. Seivert of Tracy, MN and special friend, Brittany Waterman; his mother, Evonne Seivert of Marshall, MN; three sisters, Kathryn Vos of Hills, MN; Debra Seivert of Marshall, MN; and Sheryl Vaske of Elkton, SD; mother-in-law, Kathy Schewe of Springfield, MN; father-in-law, Lenus Schewe of Walnut Grove, MN; grandmother-in-law, Fern Larson of St. James, MN; three sisters-in-law, Karen (Jody) Onken of Slayton, MN; Rhoda Johnson of Marshall, MN; and Londa (Scott) VanWinkle of Walnut Grove, MN; brother-in-law, Charles Schewe of Seattle, WA; three God Children, Kristi Wasmund, Worthington, MN; Caleb Bedner, Windom, MN; and Alex Schewe, Marshall, MN; several nieces, nephews and many friends. His father, William Seivert, paternal grandparents, Lawrence M. and Viola (Meier) Seivert; and maternal grandparents, Harry V. and Thelma (Brown) Ekberg; three uncles, two aunts, and one niece preceded him in death.
